First off, I just want to thank everyone for their contribution to this list. Without many users within the Palm community, this list would not be possible. Thank you!

Before you start installing any software, be sure to install the latest software update for the Tungsten T5. I have put together a guide to perform the update, which includes links to download the update for your device.

User Guide to Perform a ROM Update

This list will include all the software that has been verified by other users to work on the PalmOne Tungsten T5. For those not aware, the T5 is a different beast under the hood. Because of the different architecture, many developers will have to update their software to make it work with the T5.

If you do not find the software title, it does not mean that it does not work on the T5. It just means that it has not been tested by a T5 user that has posted his/her experience.

To submit a title to this list, please include the four things: the title of the software, the version of the software, the Internet link for the software, and confidence level of the tests. Here is a list that defines different confidence levels:

Need: Tested and the software needs to be updated to be compatible with the T5.
Low: Tested the basic functions of the software, and everything appears to be working on the T5.
Medium: Tested a lot of the functionality of the software including a few difference settings and options, and everything appears to be working on the T5.
High: Tested a multitude of options and scenerios that you can guarantee compability of the software with the T5. Anyone can submit the information, as long as you follow the guidelines listed in the above section.

You can submit information to the list using our contact form.

Do not install the T3 files that are included with many software titles. The files are as follows: AppSlipRotate.prc and StatusBarLib.prc.

I have modified the list to make it easy to see what does work (Green Light List) and what does NOT work (Red Light List). If it is on the Green Light List, the confidence level shows how extensive the software was tested on the T5.

I have added a new list for requested software that people would like tested on the T5.

6/27/05: Moved from "High" to "Medium" based a couple of user reports. AvantGo works just fine. Then for some unknown reason, it starts causing unknown resets. Once AvantGo is removed from the device, everything is fine. Problems usually arise the more channels you select. The lower the number of channels, the better.

6/26/05: Palm has released another update for the Tungsten T5 that has addressed a lot of the issues with backup utilities on the Tungsten T5. Users are reporting postive results after updating their device (see here).

4/18/05: From T5 user, "I can report that Back Up Buddy VFS 3.07 effectively backs up and restores. I have used it to restore my T5 on three occasions and it works well, providing that all programs are T5 compatible in the first place."
3/23/05: Mixed reports on this one. From one user, "I use it and it restored my device well 2 times so far after a hardreset, only thing is somhow the automatic backup function doesnt work ll the time, dunno if its a teo issue."

The application buttons cannot be used as shortcuts to some functionalities anymore. They just invoke the assigned program and cause Dokusha to exit. Some games may have the same problem.

New version. From Treo 650 user, "...works remarkably well. I had one isilo document 120megs in size (stored on an expantion card of course) and it would take a good 10 seconds or more to even open on my Palm Tungsten T3 (which has a faster processor than the treo 650) so I was wondering how long it would take to load, I was even ready with a timer to clock it and see how long it would take. It took less than two seconds!"

6/27/05: Out of beta. From user, "It is definitely worth the upgrade - it is fast and one handed navigation is improved. The developers have also corrected a minor bug that was introduced by the new way the T5 (and I presume also the T2 & LifeDrive) handles events spanning midnight. While there may be a few features I haven't yet tested, there can't be many. All that I have tested have worked fine and the application is very stable. I have found no compatibility issues with this version of the application."
2/7/05: Just released a public beta (click software title for link) for Treo 650 and Tungsten T5 users. Beta expires on April 1, 2005. From user, "I have tested both features without problem. The difference in speed is dramatic with launch & exit times reducing from anywhere from 10-30 seconds to about 1 second."
